winter photo sessions in the sea to sky
After living in the mountains of Whistler, BC for over 15 years, I can tell you honestly that there is nothing like photographing a snowy engagement session. The stillness winter brings to the landscape is unlike any other season in the Sea to Sky. Blanketed white snow covering the forest, bringing brightness to the darkest of days, is a time of year I’ve come to truly enjoy.
Weather can be unpredictable however, especially in the mountains of BC. Fog and rain tend to make daily appearances during those winter days, but I often try to comfort my couples in saying that we can always lean into whatever mother nature brings. One can hope to experience the perfect snow globe on their session day; however, it isn’t always guaranteed. What I can promise is that this coastal rainforest holds enough beauty and depth no matter the forecast. How can I make this promise? With years of experience in photographing all kinds of weather systems I’ve come to learn that there is beauty and opportunity in all shades of sunshine.
If you are planning to book a Whistler winter engagement or couple’s session or in the Sea to Sky area, I highly recommend you prepare yourself for both a dry and wet environment. Having good footwear during your session is optimal for not only staying comfortable and warm, but also to allow us to explore off the beaten path. Leaning into the varying weather systems as your session approaches and being open minded to a change in location should the weather shift is highly recommended.
Let’s connect about your vision and create something playful and romantic, no matter the weather. I’m here to help!
