winter photo sessions in the sea to sky
After living in the mountains of Whistler, BC for over 15 years, I can honestly tell you that there is nothing like photographing a snowy engagement session. The stillness winter brings to the landscape is unlike any other season in the mountains. Blanketed white snow covering the forest, bringing brightness to the darkest of days. It is a time of year I’ve come to truly enjoy and appreciate.
some of my favourite things to do in Whistler in the winter are Nordic Skiing around Lost lake, sipping on a hot drink in the village, or going on a forest walk with my friends and their pups. It’s the simple pleasures that make this town so incredible to visit. Definitely check out the Municipality and Tourism Whistler‘s websites to get fresh ideas on how to enjoy our beautiful snow!
West Coast weather
Weather can be unpredictable, especially in the mountains of BC. Fog and rain tend to make daily appearances during the winter, but we can always lean into whatever mother nature brings. One can hope to experience the perfect snow globe; however, it isn’t always guaranteed. What I can promise is that this coastal rainforest holds enough beauty and depth no matter the forecast. How can I make this promise? With years of experience in photographing in British Columbia, I’ve come to learn that there is beauty and opportunity in all shades of sunshine. Whistler and the Sea to Sky corridor have some of the perfect backdrops for your engagement session, you won’t be disappointed.
If you are planning to book a Whistler or Sea to SKy winter engagement or couple’s session, I highly recommend you prepare for the elements. Having good footwear during your session is optimal for not only staying comfortable and warm, but also to allow us to explore off the beaten path. as your session approaches it’s best to be as flexible as you can should the weather shift. Depending on the time of year, I will also do my best to be flexible in case we need to roll with Plan B!
Remember, when hiring a professional photographer you are in good hands. We know how to work in all kinds of weather and always come prepared with varying locations. Have questions? Let’s connect about your vision and create something playful and romantic, no matter the weather. I’m here to help!
