A Stunning Outdoor Wedding Venue
Pemberton weddings are truly unique as they showcase some of the most spectacular views in the Sea to Sky. You can ask any local around and they will tell you that the Pemberton Meadows is unlike any other valley. The open farmland allows for some stunning light, while the surrounding mountains attribute to a more secluded and private feel. It’s the best of both worlds: Big SkY Country with mountain air.
While there are many gorgeous venues in Pemberton, the Bluevault property is a warmly welcomed new addition to the area and has people turning their heads. This 135 acre property has endless opportunities for you to create an amazing experience for you and your guests. The accommodation onsite provides a great place for getting ready moments as the architecture is one of a kind. There are many quaint and beautiful Airbnb’s located nearby as well, including Green Water Resort for additional accommodation. Any location up the meadows will inspire stunning imagery and will also provide convenience when planning out your timeline.
prepare for the heat
Any planner that works in the Sea to Sky area knows that Pemberton can reach very hot temps throughout the summer months. it’s best to know all the options for providing shade for you and your guests throughout the day. Your venue and planner will have plenty of tips to help you prepare accordingly. Even if that means sun shades, mini-hand fans, or setting up cooling stations, your guests will thank you!
Photographers also like to seek shade for many reasons but, keeping you and the wedding party cool is essential. The shade not only provides a break from the sun, but it offers complimentary lighting on a bright harshly lit day. In my experience in photographing Pemberton weddings, I highly recommend we find a location that has tree coverage as well as packing refreshments to stay hydrated. Let’s make your portrait time relaxing and comfortable by pre-planning these details to encourage beautifully candid and natural imagery.
be true to your story
This is my nmber one piece of advice to anyone planning a wedding: Be true to your story.
I often get asked what the most unique thing I have ever witnessed at a wedding is and I typically find myself pressed to come up with a single answer. Photographing weddings as a career has provided me with countless opportunities to be in some of the most unique situations. I’ve ridden on horseback into a ceremony, been evacuated out of an ice cave, witnessed nudity on many fronts (pun intended) during getting ready moments, explored a cemetary for portraits, took part in a sacred blessing of smudging with my camera in hand… the list goes on.
Yes, weddings can often come with templates and your vendors (including myself) will make suggestions throughout the planning process; however, this is your story. Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box when it comes to planning your celebration. How do you want it to feel? How do you want to highlight your love and individual personalities throughout the wedding day? The possibilities when planning a wedding are endless.
LET’S CHAT more about your story and find ways to create a day that reflects you and your love best.
Enjoy your cocktail hour
All of my wedding clients know that I am a huge advocator for cocktail hour. It’s a small snippet of time during the day that you get to truly relax and enjoy mingling with your guests. Embrace it! It’s also a personal favourite of mine because it allows me to document guests candidly before everyone takes a seat for dinner. Cocktail hour is also the perfect time for me to document details, décor, as well as prep any necessary lighting before the reception. It’s a moment where we can all take a breath and regroup before the final festivities.
outdoor wedding reception
When planning an outdoor wedding reception there are a lot of things to consider. Having A plan B option for a change of weather is key. Tent rentals are an obvious choice and if it’s in the budget, I do highly recommend the clear tops. Nothing like having the view unobstructed during your dinner and dancing.
Hosting speeches throughout your dinner, or afterwards, is always a bonus for candid material. Photographing your guests laughing, crying, and everything in between is one of the joys of documenting weddings. I truly love to anticipate people’s reactions and equally chasing the spontaneous moments as they unfold throughout the night.
into the night
From dinner to dancing, I often like to sneak my couples away from the crowd to take a pause and absorb the day. There is always a sense of ease, romance, and silliness that plays into these portraits. All the hard work has paid off and you can truly be present. As any wedding heads into the night, I become a fly on the wall to document whatever shenanigans may cross my path. Messy dance moves, shots of tequila, or smoking cigars, I’m there for it.
If you have made it this far into the post, I commend you. My goal with these blog posts is to shed light on the wedding planning process and how to utilize your photography coverage best. Highlighting this Pemberton wedding at Bluevault is the perfect example of how you can achieve an elegant, yet down-to-earth celebration while including your own personal touches. If you are planning on getting married in the Sea to Sky or the Sunshine Coast of BC, please reach out! I would love to introduce myself and hear all about you and your love story.
