Have you ever experienced a NYE wedding? It’s one heck of a time! I was pretty excited when we got the invite to capture Elyse and Mike’s NYE wedding at the Cheakamus Centre in Squamish, BC. This incredible venue sits among 165 hectares of ecological reserve in the Paradise Valley. As you can imagine, you feel completely in nature, surrounded by moss covered trees and bald eagles (no big deal). Elyse and Mike met on New Years Eve 9 years ago and then got engaged on New Years in New York City… like a scene from a movie right? So they thought why not throw an amazing New Years Eve wedding too?
I actually had the pleasure of meeting Elyse and Mike at a wedding in Hawaii back in 2017. When they got engaged they connected with me and I was instantly ecstatic! Elyse had mentioned they both were really hoping that Squamish would get some snow before their wedding day. The idea of the Cheakamus Centre’s property with a blanket of snow slightly covering all the moss had my creative juices flowing. Squamish doesn’t typically get a ton of snowfall, but this past December about a week or two before New Years it snowed! Pretty perfect I would say.
This wedding celebration was filled with heartfelt moments with close friends and family. They partied into the New Year with epic dance moves and sentimental toasts. A few dress shirts may have gotten thrown around in the mix! It’s not very often you get to ring in the New Year surrounded by all the ones you love, which to me made this celebration even more special. Elyse and Mike threw one hell of a party. One that I’m sure is a true contender to all their New Years celebrations to come.
