I was pretty excited to photograph a Golden Ears engagement photography session! Have you ever been to Golden Ears Provincial Park? Honestly, I still can’t believe I had never been until Maddie and Brian took me there for their engagement session. I’m a huge lover of ferns and this was like fern heaven! The two of them spend a lot of time hiking and exploring this park, as they live in Maple Ridge and bike a lot in and around the area. We thought it would be fitting to photograph their session in a place they both connected with, a place they consider a part of their home. I think it’s so important to choose elements that reflect you and your partner for your session. Whether that be through a location or an activity, it helps you feel at ease while being in front of the lens.
We began to drive into the park and I was already feeling as though we had stepped into a fairy tale. Old-growth cedar trees lined the road covered in lichen with never-ending lush ferns at their base. We are so lucky to live in this beautiful province. With all the precipitation we receive the bold and vibrant colours of the temperate rainforest never seem to disappear.
Maddie and Brian showed me around the park a bit and we explored river streams, forest, and of course Alouette Lake. With the mountains dipping into the background we stood in awe of this insanely beautiful province. I am so humbled to call this place home. I cannot wait to photograph these two wed up in Whistler in the fall where we can explore the valley together. That being said, I would LOVE to photograph another Golden Ears engagement photography session in the future so please connect if you want to explore it with me!
