outdoor Pemberton wedding venue
When I think of a Pemberton Meadows wedding, this is exactly what comes to mind. It may not be on farmland, but the true rawness of Vicky and Tom’s celebration immediately brought the feeling of home. Barking Frog Lodge has the backyard vibes I always dream of photographing. Wild Havens glamping tents and camping gear surrounded the property so that all their family from near and far could stay onsite. Beautiful mountains and farmland reflected the amazing weather they received, overcast with snippets of sunshine, not too hot and a deep blue evening sky. This is Pemberton at its finest.
I’ve been lucky to get to know Vicky and Tom over the course of the last year. We did some engagement photos (check out their session here), drank some beers, and met up on occasion beyond their wedding planning. It’s always a bonus when your clients become your friends. These two are pretty easy to get along with and that was very evident by the amount of support they received from their Whistler family on their wedding day.
We decided to use the front door of the lodge for their “first look”, and their anticipation was so exciting to photograph. Aside from positioning them in certain light, there was no direction needed. These two giggled and kissed with their whole bodies. It was as though this day couldn’t have come any sooner. The ceremony included personal vows that spoke of constellations and their epic adventures they have shared over the course of their relationship. I always enjoy listening in to this part of the celebration all the while trying to catch the tears, laughter, and adrenaline. It truly is a rad moment when you marry your best friend.
dreamy backyard ceremony
Pemberton wedding venues offer an array of outdoor options for your wedding ceremony. Whether it be amongst farmland, epic mountain views, or tucked under a willow tree, being in nature always photographs well. V&T chose their celebration spot nestled right next to a willow tree on the property that provided a focal point but didn’t take away from the intimacy. A simple geometric arch and spots of beautiful florals anchored their ceremony location and complimented their love for outer space and nature all in one.
Personal vows were exchanged, tears were shed, and many hugs commenced their celebration. All creating the perfect canvas for me to float around and photograph their wedding ceremony candidly and naturally.
family style pemberton catering
A long table dinner outfitted with BC wines and home made brews kicked off the evening. The Collective Kitchen always doing family style justice. I could literally photograph their food for days… and then eat it of course. Consider servicing family style to your guests, because not only does it allow people to interact with one another, but it provides a wonderful palette for photos to showcase your incredible dinner.
This Pemberton wedding reception was followed by a very casual but elegant cocktail hour. They rolled right into Speeches which involved rapping and leather thongs. Yes, thongs. honestly, the things I hear while I’m at weddings make me smile! It’s a perk of the job really. A few more tears shed, lots of cheers and laughs along the way, this wedding reception was the perfect compliment to the backyard wedding style V&T had envisioned.
dance under the Pemberton sky
As the sun set behind the mountains and the sky turned dark it became all about the dancing. DJ Foxy Moron had me grooving behind the camera, and the cake and beer kept flowing. I love this time in the night, when you can see how everyone is mingling and new friendships emerge. It’s a rarity to have some of the best folks in your life all together in one space. Relish in that when you are planning your wedding. Like any wedding day, it flies by so fast. It’s important to make time throughout the day to take a step back, breathe, and take in everything that is happening. Whether that’s through cocktail hour, sitting with close family members during dinner, or designing your day to provide you space; there are lots of ways to create a day that doesn’t feel rushed.
