Hosting a wedding up the Sea to Sky Gondola is sure to bring you and your guests a unique West Coast experience. Squamish, BC offers a variety of wedding venue options; however, none of them have the same mountain top views as the Sea to Sky Gondola. Kelly & Trevor reside south of the border but often venture to the West Coast of Canada to explore the incredible mountain terrain. It became apparent to them as they started to plan their wedding that they wanted to share these jaw-dropping views with their closest family and friends.
The Howe Sound is where the ocean meets the mountains, just Northwest of the city of Vancouver. this beautiful sound runs along the Sea to Sky Highway, making the drive an experience in itself. Squamish is known for it’s incredible biking, rock climbing, and overall lifestyle. Having the best of both worlds: forested mountains and ocean access. There is a large wind sports community here alongside many other activities. It’s no wonder so many people flock here to live, vacation, and host wedding celebrations!

planning a wedding in the Sea to Sky
If you are in the beginning stages of planning your wedding, I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner that can Help facilitate your vision. Even if you plan to do a bunch of DIY, it never hurts to have someone in your corner on the day-of. When thinking about the logistics of your day, think about your getting ready locations, drive time, and whether you want to do your portraits before the ceremony. All of these factors play a huge role in the timeline. Providing enough space to breathe is a must, so chat with your vendors and ensure you have given yourself some space to soak it all in!
Kelly and Trevor planned to do a first look up the gondola, talk about some amazing anticipation! Prior to heading up the mountain, they rented two airbnb’s that offered enough space to not only house some of their guests but provide ample room for getting ready. Trust me, it can be frustrating to navigate 10 people trying to get ready in one hotel room! It’s okay to weigh the costs of course but know that having more space will provide better energy and ease during your preparation. You get Bonus Points if you consider some nice window light and/or outdoor space for your photographer to utilize!

first look moments with an epic view
Kelly and Trevor decided to do their first look at the Chief Viewing Platform where they gathered their wedding party to join in on the hike. It’s always fun having a walk incorporated into the portraits. It gives us time to find different backdrops and create movement along the way. Between the mountain views and forested trees, we had plenty of nature to work with. Plus, it was a great way to get their wedding party together to do something fun before the festivities! Popping some bubbles and enjoying the views together was the perfect start for this celebration.

Sea to sky gondola ceremony views
The Sea to Sky Gondola hosts a variety of stunning locations for your ceremony. Whether its an elopement or full size wedding, you can experience gorgeous Howe Sound views and/or surrounding mountains within walking distance from the main lodge. Kelly & trevor chose the Spirit Trail Viewing Platform as it is one of the most dramatic spots. You can also choose your aisle to be a suspension bridge. Doesn’t get any cooler than that!
With a gentle breeze in the air, Kelly and Trevor exchanged their personal vows and rings. Married by one of their best friends, their ceremony was deeply touching and also light hearted. Laughter and tears were shared as well as the views. The perfect setting for such an intimate moment.

Alpenglow mountain top reception
The Diamond Head Room can host up to 100 guests and has large windows overlooking the Howe Sound from your dinner table. Ending your night you can dance under the stars and watch the alpenglow as the sun sets behind the mountains. Your guests will be in awe. Even if you experience some fog, this mountain magic is one of a kind.
Kelly and Trevor hosted their cocktail hour with a flower bar, allowing each guest to make their own unique floral arrangement to bring to their seat. It acted as their seating chart and was a great way for guests to interact. with signature cocktails flowing and heartfelt speeches, their guests were ready to take on the dance floor! Dancing into the night with some evening light portraits along the way, this wedding was one of my highlights from 2025. Grateful to the entire Sea to Sky Gondola staff, my amazing secondary photographer Janice Power and all the epic vendors that made this day possible!
