Vancouver weddings always get me excited. Photographing in the mountains is undeniably incredible, but being in urban spaces and venturing from one location to the next excites me in a different way. Anita got ready in a modern Airbnb in Gastown, equipped with skylights and concrete walls. They held their ceremony up Granville street at their local church that had character and meaning. Family members played instruments, friends recited hymns, while the pastor spoke about their love and commitment to one another. So much intent in the entire day, such a beautiful reflection of both Anita and Jeff.
We made our way to Crab Park to capture the skyline of North Vancouver and also explored some industrial backdrops (I’m mean a wall of pallets! How could I resist?) following a pit stop at McDonald’s. Who knew McDonald’s would turn us down to use the drive through for photos? Such a shame as it would have been cute to get them all lined up at the drive through window! I’m hoping sometime in the near future I’ll get to try and recreate this with another bridal party. Their reception was held at beautiful UBC Boathouse in Richmond. I had never photographed there before and was in awe of the sunset they received on their wedding day. The light just poured into the hall, which was a lovely surprise as they day started with rain. Thanking the weather God’s on that one! The evening rolled out with laughter, tears, and of course shots. These guys sure know how to party. The energy was incredible!
It has been such a pleasure getting to know these two both in front and behind the lens. I got to capture their engagement session (check it out here) last year and their trust in me was so apparent. Thank you Anita and Jeff for having me along all your wonderful celebrations. Cheers to you both!
