Whistler commercial and editorial photographer

A couple months back I was fortunate to photograph my friend Kristine’s portrait in a Vancouver studio. I had this fleeting vision for months with very little direction, but somehow during the pandemic we made it happen.

Over the last year, I’ve been reflecting more on my work and the type of imagery I want to create. In a world where social media is constantly telling us to create non-stop it begins to exhaust the art of creation and can sometimes dilute our expression and even interest. When I first picked up a camera I was fascinated with the idea of stopping time. I wasn’t focused on the composition or the lack thereof. Just me, my camera and what I saw in the moment. The simplicity in that is something I often think about. The pure passion to see something and document it, without worrying about how it looks or how others will perceive it.

From passion to profession, I realized that I wanted to hone in my skills and deliver emotional and genuine imagery to my clients. In doing so, I have had the privilege of building a photography business I am very proud of. Having clients who put their trust in my creative vision helps my work evolve in more ways then one. When I reached out to Kristine about renting a studio space in Vancouver she was excited about creating imagery together. I don’t often photograph my subjects against white walls. Typically, I’m in the forest or by the ocean incorporating nature’s colours and textures. This blank canvas allowed me to focus on the light and provide space for Kristine to be playful.

With renting this Vancouver studio to do portrait photography, I was able to explore something a bit different with my camera. Moving forward, I hope to create more portraits and collaborate with small businesses. If you require new imagery for commercial or even personal use please connect so we can discuss your vision together!
