Leah and Andy’s intimate farm wedding in Vernon has been a highlight of my summer so far. Leah and I have been friends for over a decade and getting to capture her marry Andy was an absolute honour. The wedding took place on her family farm tucked away in the hills of Vernon, BC. It was a hot summer day, surrounded by close family and friends. Lawn games and home made charcuterie platters during cocktail hour set the tone. So much character on the farm, I could just visualize a young Leah running around the property. It’s not very often I get to photograph couple’s get ready in the homes they grew up in. It sure brings an element of home and familiarity.
The day consisted of everyone enjoying the property, exploring tucked away rusty trucks that had mattresses in them for you to lounge in. Vintage sofas scattered on the farm so you could kick back and relax as you pleased. At the very top of the farm they curated what they like to call “Whiskey Mountain”; a cabinet filled with various types of whiskey for those to enjoy who made it to the top. This may have become one of my favourite spot on the property for obvious reasons.
Needless to say, these two had put a lot of thought and care into planning the details of their day. It represented their welcoming arms to all of the guests that attended. The heart felt connections is what really drew my attention the most, as you will see in the photographs here. So much love and celebration, it made documenting their day so enjoyable. I’ve been wanting to photograph a wedding in the Okanagan for some time now and I hope to document more. Thank you for having me Leah and Andy! Congrats to you both!
