Morning Winter Engagement Photography in Whistler Mountains

There is something about a morning engagement photography session in the beautiful Whistler winter light. Everything is still and quiet and the snow is crunchy under your feet. You are the first to enjoy the Sun as it peaks over the mountains. It’s the perfect canvas for photos. If you ask any photographer in Whistler about the winter light, they will tell you it’s pure magic. Maybe it’s the snow that amplifies it’s beauty, or the way that it creates a canopy over the bare foliage. It truly is a unique backdrop to incorporate into your Whistler engagement photography session.

Meeting Lian and Nick for the first time gave me instant smiles. They pulled up to meet me in the parking lot prior to their session wearing Canadian tuxedos and said “what do you think!?”. I LOVED it. I must admit, within my Portrait Style Guide, I suggest to avoid being too “matchy matchy”, but this outfit arrangement had fun written all over it. Besides, your engagement photos don’t have to be stuffy or formal. They are meant to represent you and your connection between one another. If you are a bit goofy and playful your photography session should represent that. It’s always a great way to lighten up the mood so you feel a bit more at ease while getting your photo taken. The majority of my couples are camera shy, so having some fun attire or accessories to play with may evoke those natural candid smiles that everyone hopes for within their photos.

If you are considering having your engagement photography in Whistler I highly recommend considering a winter engagement session. You do have to roll with the punches when it comes to weather, but know that foggy backdrops or snow flakes can all add to the mood of the imagery. As much as the backdrops are epic here in Whistler, the photography at the end of the day is about you and your love for one another. Let’s focus on that and the rest will be the cherry on top.
