Whistler Winter Wedding

Ashley and Michael flew in from Texas to have a Whistler winter wedding at the Fairmont Chateau. Surrounded by close family and friends, they said their vows in the roof top chapel while the west coast snow and fog set the mood. Intimate weddings are some of my favourite celebrations and I know I have expressed this before, but the simplicity of it is something I truly enjoy photographing. The traditions are always unique to the couple and there is a relaxed atmosphere which I feel contributes to the natural connection between everyone present.

When Ashley, Michael, and I met up in Whistler about two months before their big day we chatted about their life back in Texas, how they met, and why they decided on a destination wedding. I always love hearing why people choose to get married in this ski town and the reasons are endless beyond the obvious ones. So many people have connections to the mountains, to this resort, to the lifestyle, it’s no wonder why 2.1 million people travel to Whistler throughout the year.

It was very evident that Michael could make Ashley laugh about anything. He admittedly said he use to quote movies when they first met and she thought it was his original wit. I love that about relationships, getting to hear how they have grown together and then capturing their connection. It’s a perk of the job and I’m so grateful I get to meet so many amazing people from all over the world.
